This is National Nurses Week!
May 6 , 2008
This is National Nurses Week! It kicks off with RN Recognition Day on May 6 continuing to May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale (1820-1910), founder of nursing as a modern profession.
Thank you nurses and nurses-in-training. At 2.9 million strong, nurses represent the largest group of health care workers in America. We appreciate the depth and breadth of the nursing profession's efforts, from bedside nursing in hospitals and long-term care facilities to the halls of research institutions, state legislatures, and Congress - you are there!

Search Multiple Databases Simultaneously!
April 23, 2008
University at Buffalo Libraries has launched its Multi Search federated search solution powered by Serials Solutions. This custom designed system enables patrons to search up to 100 of the library's online databases as well as the library's BISON Catalog simultaneously with a single intuitive interface.
Prior to the launch of the Multi Search, patrons could only search library databases one at a time. The new Multi Search interface improves access to an array of research resources that the library offers including full-text articles from hundreds of magazines, newspapers and journals.
Try the Health and Biological Sciences Multi Search, where you can search MEDLINE, CINAHL, Web of Science, ScienceDirect journals, Google Scholar, SPORTDiscus and other databases simultaneously.
As always, contact us if you have any questions.

NIH Public Access Policy
March 25, 2008
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has released its new Public Access Policy which becomes effective April 7, 2008. Under a new federal law, NIH is now requiring that the author's final version of any peer-reviewed journal article resulting from NIH-funded activities must be submitted to the PubMed Central (PMC) repository, where it will be made available to the public within 12 months after the journal article is published. This new policy has several compliance issues that authors need to address.
