Commercial Document Delivery

This document is for those who do not have access to Interlibrary Loan at UB or are willing to pay for a journal article we don't own.

When you have used the UB Libraries Catalog and a reference librarian has confirmed that the University Libraries do not own the article you are looking for, you have several options available to you:

  • You can travel to other local Western New York Libraries after using their catalog to see if they own the material. Western & Central New York / Southern Ontario Library Catalogs.

  • You can submit an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) request online on the Request Forms A - Z page. ILL is a free service available to University at Buffalo faculty, staff, and students.

If you are not eligible to use our ILL services and are willing to pay for an article (prices range from $11-$34, or possibly higher, even for short articles) you can use a third option:

  • Contact a commercial document delivery service and order the article for a fee. If you are willing to pay with a credit card, document delivery companies copy the article, pay a copyright fee, and deliver the item to you. Be aware that some copyright holders do not allow for commercial delivery of their items; not everything is available via this option.

Following is a partial list of document delivery companies.
You will need the full article information (journal title, volume, page, date) and your credit card number and expiration date. Be sure to ask about price information before confirming your order.
