Neighborhood Boundaries:

North 30th Street
East 6th Avenue
South 14th Street
West Hudson River

Notable Features:

This neighborhood had a long history of warehouses and freight handling. Along the river were piers that had factories and railyards.

The major immigrant groups that lived here were Greeks, Irish, and Germans. Still there is the famous Chelsea Hotel. The General Theological Seminary is in the area.
