CACHE LA POUDRE WILDERNESS
The Cache la Poudre Wilderness is named for the river that runs at its northern edge. The river's name means "Hiding Place of Powder". According to legend, fur trappers were caught by a tremendous snowstorm. To lighten their load they buried large amounts of gunpowder (poudre) in a hiding place (cache) along the banks of the river.
Check with district offices and trailhead signs for restrictions that apply throughout the Cache la Poudre Wilderness.
CAMPING: Camp at least 200 feet from lakes, streams, and trails.
FIRE:Do not build or use a campfire or stove fire within 100 feet of lakes, streams or trails.

SANITATION:
STOCK: Hobble, tie, or tether any pack or saddle animal at least 200 feet from lakes, streams and trails. Only processed, weed-free hay is permitted in the national forest.
PETS: Please keep dogs leashed. Loose dogs can harass wildlife and stock, and can cause conflicts with other visitors.
GROUPS: Maximum number of people is 15. Groups with pack stock are limited to a combination of 25, 15 people maximum.
