Spring cabin fever?
Day off at Saratoga race track?
School science trip?

Visit Lester Park and Stark's Knob and learn about New York 's ancient natural heritage.

Interpretive signs at Lester Park and Stark's Knob teach you about geology and ancient life at America 's oldest science parks. Step out of your car at Lester Park and walk on a fossilized, tropical sea floor with stromatolites ["layered stones" made by "blue-green algae"]. At Stark's Knob, you will see a cliff of volcanic rock erupted under deep sea water during mountain building in eastern New York . This hill also formed the north side of the bottleneck that...British troops could not escape through after the Battle of Saratoga.
