AMICO Library

The AMICO (Art Museum Image Consortium) Library subscription was cancelled March 31, 2005.

In February 2005, we had been informed that through an AMICO/ARTstor (ARTstorDigital Archive) agreement, ARTstor had obtained a non-exclusive license to use AMICO intellectual property, such as software and research covering the educational use of images. ARTstor had proceeded to seek licenses from the AMICO participating museums to provide AMICO content for inclusion in the ARTstor Charter Collection . At that time 18 of the 35 AMICO museums had reached agreement with ARTstor ; with more following; and others, such as the Albright-Knox, continuing negotiations. AMICO as a non-profit entity will be dissolved as of August 2005. The AMICO database will continue to be distributed through RLG distribution channels until July 2005. AMICO 's Library of images will not be available beyond June 30, 2005 and all AMICO operations are scheduled to conclude in August 2005.
