Description

LexisNexis Congressional, formerly Congressional Universe, is a LexisNexis product that indexes and provides selected full texts of Congressional publications, regulations, laws, legislative histories, and background information on members of Congress.
Contains comprehensive indexing, legislative histories, and the full text of congressional publications that include:
  • Bills (full texts from 101th Congress (1989) forward)
  • Witnesses testimonies before committee hearings from earliest ones in the mid 19th Century through the present. (full texts from the 100th Congress (1988) forward). Online testimonies are limited. Consult the print or microfiche hearings for more complete information.
  • Committee prints issued throughout the 20th Century (full texts of selected titles from the 103rd Congress (1993) forward)
  • House and Senate reports (full texts from the 101st Congress (1989) forward. See U.S. Serial Set Digital Collection for full text access to Congressional reports and documents published through 1969.
  • Public laws (full texts from the 100th Congress (1988) forward)

The CIS Index covers 1970 to present. Full text coverage varies depending on publication (see above) and update schedules vary.

Print Counterpart

Lockwood Library and the Law Library have comprehensive collections of print and microfiche Congressional publications. The Law Library's collection of legal and regulatory materials is very comprehensive.
