Evidence Based Medicine Reviews
Description
Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) Reviews consists of seven databases: ACP Journal Club; Cochrane Methodology Register; Cochrane Register of Controlled Trials; Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews; Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness; Health Technology Assessment; and NHS Economic Evaluation Database. There are bi-directional links between MEDLINE and EBMR databases, allowing the searcher to link from a review in EBM Reviews to a MEDLINE citation or from a MEDLINE citation to its review in EBM Reviews.
ACP Journal Club - The editors of ACP Journal Club screen the top clinical journals on a regular basis and identify studies that are both methodologically sound and clinically relevant. They write an enhanced abstract of the chosen articles and provide a commentary on the value of the article for clinical practice.
Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews - The Cochrane Collaboration prepares full-text systematic reviews of the effects of healthcare. Two types of reviews are presented: complete reviews and protocols. Complete reviews are Cochrane Reviews prepared and maintained by Collaborative Review Groups. Protocols are the background, objectives and methods of reviews being prepared. A unique feature of this database is once a review is published, it is regularly updated and it will appear in every issue thereafter.
Cochrane Methodology Register (CMR) - A database of studies relevant to the methods of systematic reviews of healthcare and social interventions.
Cochrane Register of Controlled Trials (CCTR) - Citations to over 300,000 bibliographic references to controlled trials in health care. References are identified by searching MEDLINE and EMBASE, and by hand searching the journal literature. Quality control standards are followed to ensure that only reports of definite randomized controlled trials or controlled clinical trials are included. Not full-text.Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness (DARE) - The DARE database consists of structured abstracts of systematic reviews from all over the world that have been critically assessed by expert reviewers and information staff of the National Health Services' Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (NHS CRD) at the University of York, England. Records cover topics such as diagnosis, prevention, rehabilitation, screening, and treatment.
Health Technology Assessment (HTA) - This product brings together details on ongoing health technology assessments (studies of the medical, social, ethical, and economic implications of healthcare interventions)
NHS Economic Evaluation Database (NHSEED) - This product provides cost-benefit analyses about healthcare interventions within the National Health Service (NHS).
Leads to full-text article and topic reviews. A link to the full-text of the original article(s) is provided when available. CCTR provides citations only.
