This document is a description of the Executive Development (XD) Training
Program. The XD Program, which is the first stage of the Candidate Development
Program (CDP), is a four to six month formal training program. The second
part of the CDP, which immediately follows the XD Program, is a developmental
assignment in an executive position. During this assignment, candidates will
have the opportunity to apply knowledge acquired in the XD Program under the
tutelage of an experienced executive.
A short videotape is also available which gives additional information about joining the IRS executive cadre. To request a copy of the video, internal applicants should contact their servicing Education Branch Chief, Pre-XD Program Manager or local head of office; applicants from outside the IRS should call the Office of Executive Support at (202) 622-6320.
