Students enrolled in the Discovery Seminar, "Pulp Fiction and Pop Culture at UB," created large posters as the final project for the class. Their assignment was to use the colorful and vibrant cover art from pulp fiction novels to graphically depict something about their own identity—their personality, dreams, fears, interests—who they are.

Digital collections of pulp cover art, developed and available through the UB Libraries, primarily from the George Kelley Paperback and Pulp Fiction Collection, were the primary sources for the images utilized by the students. Two of these digital collections are available as follows:

Posters created by students in the Spring 2007 and Spring 2008 seminars are displayed here. The posters demonstrate creative and intriguing use of digital images to communicate a personal message and/or make a unique artistic statement. The seminars were taught by Judith Adams-Volpe, Director of Communication for the UB Libraries. Online exhibit created by Rose Orcutt, Project Librarian
