Why use Meebo, what happened to the old way?
Meebo is free and doesn't require a software download to use and it's compatible with most platforms and browsers. Only the Opera browser is not compatible with Meebo. There were numerous connection problems that occurred with the former system which used an AIM chatroom, so Meebo was selected as a superior chat interface for Instant Librarian.
I like AIM and prefer to chat with the librarian using AIM.
Those who use AIM can add us to their buddy list and talk to the UB Librarian using the ID UBLibrarian10.
The Meebo window won't let me type in a question.
In this case, refresh the webpage and try again. Your browser needs to be able to run JavaScript. Don't use the Opera browser. If you still cannot type in a question, use AIM and chat with the librarian using the ID UBLibrarian10.
How do I launch a web address (url) the librarian gives me?
The urls displayed in the Meebo window aren't hotlinked. Just copy and paste it into your browser to view it.
The librarian isn't logged on right now, can I leave my name and question?
Yes, type in your question and contact information and the next time the UBLibrarian logs on, your question will be answered.
