Q: What are the requirements for the poster session, and what should I include on my poster? A: Share your creativity and your experience in writing and using case studies in science teaching. Case ideas, tips, and techniques are welcome. Prepare a display to be mounted on a foamboard (40" x 60"). The display should include:
The most effective poster presentations are those that limit the amount of text, that include key words and phrases, that provide labels or captions for each figure, and that use bold type and large fonts (preferably sans serif) so that the poster can be read from a distance of 3-5 feet. The elements of the poster presentation should be laid out in such a way that the poster can be “read” without the assistance of the presenter. Arrows can be used to direct the eyes of the reader. If possible, bring along 50 copies of handout material that either summarizes the poster, or provides a list of references, or offers information related to the poster. Q: How can I submit my poster abstract for review? A: Complete the online Poster Proposal Submission Form. Poster abstracts should be around 250 words in length. Q: Whom should I contact if I have questions? A: Questions about the poster session should be directed to Carolyn Wright, Conference Coordinator, National Center for Case Study Teaching in Science, at nccsts@buffalo.edu. Q: Will you let me know when you receive my abstract, and whether or not it will be included in the poster session? A: You will receive confirmation by email of receipt of your submission. Once the poster abstracts have been reviewed, potential presenters will be notified that their proposal has or has not been scheduled for the poster session. Q: What is the deadline for submitting my proposal? A: The deadline for submitting a proposal for the poster session is Friday, August 29, 2008. |
