In 1961, Goodyear Hall provided facilities that were "cited as among the loveliest and most utilitarian in the country" (Ella Conger Goodyear Hall for Women in Residence). Every room was shared by two students and every two rooms shared a semi-private bathroom. Each of the eight residence floors had a lounge and a laundry room. The entry-level floor had conference rooms, guest rooms, dining rooms and "date rooms" for entertaining male guests while the basement level had recreation rooms and snack bars. The University was particulary proud of Goodyear's "brilliant colors, modern furnishings, [and] elevators which whisked students to their rooms high above campus."
