If all copies have been deactivated but the bib was not marked for suppression from the catalog the Web version of the catalog is handling it this way. There is complete bibliographic information, but the Call Number, Location, Status box is empty.
The command version provides brief information (title and publisher) and the indication that the "item is no longer available."
As part of a review of possible errors of this and several related types a report which identifies records containing the above error--all copies are deactivated, record is not in line for deletion, and, in error, the D/S field has not been changed to "S." As of now, there are exactly 2,000 such records. By changing D/S to "S" the problem with these records will be eliminated.
The same display is received if a record has correctly been marked for suppression after a keyword regen. Instead of getting the no longer available message, the location, etc., box is blank. Since there are no errors involved with this one, there is nothing which we can do with the records to correct the problem.
For some formats the 546 field does not display in either version of the catalog with the appropriate label of "Languages." For example, it does display for the records in the Serials format but not for records in the Books or Data Files formats.
An example of a Books record is EDC5810. An example of a Data Files record is EDL0156.
Error reported Nov. 14, 1998
This problem is in both the command and web versions of the catalog.
When fields 516 and 520 are used data in those fields display in the catalog with the appropriate labels. 516="Type of file" and 520="Summary." But the information also displays a second time with the label "Notes" along with other information which should be displaying after the "notes" label.
The problem may be limited to selected record types. The problem with the 516 field has been discovered with a record in the Computer File format (FMT D). An example is t=tesl ej (ECQ5804).
The problem with the 520 field may be restricted to the Visual format (FMT F). An example of a record is t=salmon on the run (EDK1871).
