**NEW GUIDELINES FOR REPORTING NACO BFM**

NACO participants will have fewer categories of name authority record NAR changes and bibliographic file maintenance BFM to report to the Library of Congress LC thanks to the greater use of automated reports generated by bibliographic utilities This means that contributing NACO institutions no longer need to report routine BFM such as straightforward changes to 1XX headings or matching duplicate records directly to LC

UBUFFALO LIBRARIES CENTRAL TECHNICAL SERVICES
PARTICIPATES IN CONNEXION SOFTWARE TESTING

Several CTS staff members and library student assistants are performing OCLC Connexion software product testing during a multi-week period Oct 2005.

The most exciting feature of the Connexion client for Authority Control is the ability to “Control Headings” within the bibliographic record:
Connexion lets you apply Library of Congress standards and practices to name and subject headings in bibliographic records both existing records and workforms from WorldCat and the online bibliographic save file
You electronically link a heading in a bibliographic record directly to the authority record for that heading via the Control Headings function Headings for names and subjects are automatically updated so if the linked authority record changes the change is also made in the bibliographic record automatically
