ABOUT THE CATALOG MAINTENANCE SECTION
The Catalog Maintenance Section works as a team and is responsible
for the preparation of material to be shelf ready, processing
transfers and withdrawals and updating the automated catalog.
Each member is expected to be able to assist with all aspects of
the operation.
The Catalog Maintenance Section is comprised of four Clerk I's,
Elaine Dill, Audrey Dubiel, Violet Feyl and Douglas Pagano under
the supervision of the Head of the Catalog Maintenance Section,
Diana Randall.
Responsibilities of the Catalog Maintenance Section include:
- Marking and finishing all monograph and selected serial
material processed through the Cataloging Department
within a 24 hour turn-around time.
- Expediting RUSH material.
- Processing withdrawals for the CTS served units.
- Processing transfers between CTS served units and to storage
facilities.
- Processing materials to be placed in (or removed from)
special collection areas such as Reference.
- Preparing non-publisher bound material for shipment to a
commercial bindery and receiving materials back from
the commercial bindery.
- Resolving Bison Trace problems.
- Updating the automated catalog: including retrospective and
current linking of material, setting up the MHLD, and
updating Bound With records as appropriate.
- Retrospective BISON database clean-up projects.
- Daily delivery and pick-up of UGL and SEL materials, and
more frequent deliveries to Lockwood Library.
- Resolving problems of missing pages.
