Statistics for US, NY and Canadian Documents

This applies to those publications of the United States federal government, the state of New York, and the federal government of Canada which are arranged by a documents classification scheme. The guidelines apply to all formats. All statistics should be reported on either the Lockwood Documents or SEL Documents forms.

Monographs:
Count as title cataloged and volume(s) added when a BISON record is created. This includes an abbreviated record for new receipts. The material should be stamped "BISON" at the time of record creation.

When a fuller record replaces an abbreviated one, count the activity as recataloging. The activity should be reported on the appropriate documents form.

Serials:
Count as title cataloged and volume (s) added when a BISON record is derived from MARCIVE by Acquisitions or when Cataloging uses or inputs an OCLC record. Stamp material "BISON" at time of deriving or cataloging. Stamp and record statistics at time of inventory/holdings review as if the record were being added to BISON at that time.

Periodicals:
Count as title cataloged when a BISON record is derived by Acquisitions or when Cataloging uses or inputs an OCLC record. Count volumes after they are bound. Stamp "BISON" only after volumes are bound. Stamp and record statistics at time of inventory/holdings review as if the record were being added to BISON at that time.

Transfers:
If material is transferred from LC classification to a documents classification, indicate a withdrawal from the original location and an add to the appropriate documents collection according to the same procedure as used for the transfer of material between two LC locations.
