Cataloging for the 21st Century Training Program
Call For Trainers

The Library of Congress and the Association of Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS) is seeking trainers for a new training initiative.

BACKGROUND

In November 2000, the Bicentennial Conference on Bibliographic Control for the New Millennium was held to bring together authorities in the cataloging and metadata communities to discuss issues in discovery and access to Web resources. One of the resulting recommendations from that conference was the provision of appropriate training and continuing education to improve bibliographic control of selected Web resources. Training materials for the first course (Rules & Tools for Cataloging Internet Resources) have been developed and will soon be available from the Library of Congress Cataloging Distribution Service. A critical piece of the program will be the trainers.

This is your opportunity to share your electronic resource cataloging experience with others and to help build a community of knowledgeable electronic resource catalogers.

Below are specific details on the training program, train-the-trainer sessions, and the qualifications that we are seeking in would-be trainers.

The deadline for applications is April 15, 2005.
