This is to confirm our practice with microforms and to expand it to cover
other types of formats.
Microforms:
Add holdings for a microform copy to a record which already has a
copy held in paper. If a MHLD is required, the MHLD for the
microform copy should have the appropriate fixed fields added for
the microform.
But do not add holdings for a microform copy to a record which already
has a copy held in paper if the microform is part of a microform
collection. Instead, maintain a separate bibliographic record for the
microform edition.
Computer files:
Add holdings for computer files to the same record for a paper copy if
the content of the computer file and paper are identical.
Adding Paper to records for microforms and computer files:
Holdings for a paper copy should be added to a record which already has
a microform or computer file copy, but if a paper copy is added, fixed
fields in the bibliographic record should be changed to reflect a paper
edition not a microform or computer file. Paper copies should not be
added to record for a microform which is part of a microform set.
