Batteries and Printer Cartidges
- In CTS, a recycling station has been established near the staff elevator. Batteries and ink jet printer cartridges can be placed in their designated boxes. Ribbon cartridges from the proprinters cannot be recycled and should be discarded.
- These boxes will be emptied as needed by members of the Recycling Team.
- At present, ink jet cartridges are being donated to a Habitat for Humanity to be recycled for fund-raising purposes.
- Alkaline and lithium batteries are being recycled through Toxco, Inc., a leader in battery material recovery and reuse. Information about recycling services offered can be found at the company's website http://www.toxco.com/
Microforms
- Microforms withdrawn from the UB Libraries collections are now being recycled through Safety-Kleen, Inc. Any metals contained in the microfilm or microfiche will be recovered and the residual material recycled as appropriate. More information on Safety-Kleen's services can be found on their website http://www.safety-kleen.com
- In CTS, we are collecting withdrawn microfilm and fiche in a large yellow drum located in the back storeroom near the bindery receipts area (next to the elevator.) Once this drum has been filled, Safety-Kleen will be notified.
For information about CTS' battery and microform recycling efforts, please contact Brenda Battleson in the Continuations Division at 645-2035 x232. |
