Collection Priorities
Selection Criteria
For general criteria for making collection priority selections
go to Collection Priority Selection Criteria.
Determining Music Library Collection Priorities
Priorities for salvaging library materials on each floor of the
Music Library building and/or specific department or area have
been established by subject bibliographers and department heads
with the knowledge of the unit library director. Overall collection
priorities for each library building have also been determined
by the same staff.
In determining priorities for recovery efforts, no consideration
was given to office and library equipment, e.g. computers.
See floor plan for approximate locations of collections.
Priorities
- Rare and archival materials in Room 110 (Treasure Room) and outside
Room 111 (Seminar Room) in filing cabinets, no. 6-8.
- Card catalogs near entrance to the library. They include several
files that are irreplaceable, not in BISON.
- Denkmäler (M/01's) and Gesamtausgaben (M/05's)
on the North wall of the Library (separated by an aisle from
the rest of the collections).
- Microforms in cabinets near Offices 111 and 112.
- "Flat file" in map cases near the center
of the Library.
Special Considerations
For the rest of the materials in the library, be they books, scores,
recordings, posters, slides, vertical file materials, or files,
we would prefer that anything processed be saved over anything
not processed.
We would prefer that records of, indexes to, and guides to materials
be saved before the materials themselves.
