Archive of the Center of the Creative and Performing Arts: Finding List |
This finding list describes the operational files of the Center of the Creative and Performing Arts. Each entry represents an individual file containing materials related to the named subject. Individual files may contain programs, correspondence, financial information or documents of general business. There is additional information about Creative Associates, as members of the Center were known, in the documentation relevant to the activities of the Music Department. That data exits in two formats: preserved newspaper clippings, programs, and program inserts closely protected in a series of volumes in the Music Library's Seminar Room and a microfilm which is readily available to interested readers.
In addition to these paper documents there are cassettes documenting the two series of concerts performed by the Creative Associates: the Evenings for New Music and the Creative Associate recitals. Catalogues of both are available in the Music Library. The Creative Associates were also participants in the 1975-80 series of "June in Buffalo" concerts; a catalogue of cassette recordings of that series is also available. There is limited visual coverage in the Music Library's photograph collection. A catalogue of music scores "presented to the Music Library by The Center of the Creative and Performing Arts" is available (ML136.B942M82) on the open shelves.
The following is a list of dates for the concert series Evenings for New Music. The folders in this series contain programs, program notes, financial documents, administrative notes, and correspondence to and from participating composers and performers.
For additional information and cassette recordings of each concert see also: Evenings for New Music: A Catalogue, 1964-1977 and Evenings for New Music: A Catalogue, 1977-1980 (Buffalo: Department of Music, SUNYAB, 1978 and 1981). (ML157.32.B942E36 v.1-2)
A separate run of the programs has been created from original printed programs and photocopies. It is available as: Evenings for New Music: Programs, 1964-1980 (ML42.B83 E84). A list of its contents is available online. Also available online is a list of concert dates and venues for the Evenings for New Music series.
