The Music Library of the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York possesses
a substantial amount of material related to the life and career of composer and pianist Leo Smit
(on the faculty at the University 1962-1984). Researchers should be aware that the New York Public Library
holds the major collection of Smit's materials.

The collection consists of 104 scores by Leo Smit, principally in copies of holographs.
There are also another 43 items arranged or transcribed by Smit, inscribed to or by Smit, scores marked for performance by Smit, and
miscellaneous scores. Many of the scores were marked with changes and corrections by Smit.
